Lennie is described as a horse by the way he drinks from the pool.
Cody M.
4/25/2012 10:08:42 pm
I hadnt actually noticed he was compared to a horse. I think I missed it but now that I think about it that is very reflective of him. In that situation it was reflected on the way that he drank. I also see him as a horse because of his ability to work tirelessly.
Brooke edmister

Lennie is like a mouse. He is quit and doesn't talk that much and he is kinda sneaky. The older man is like a crow. He knows everything about everyone that was at the ranch.
Kali Lakes
4/23/2012 09:36:10 pm
Lennie is like a mouse. He is quiet and sneaky. You made a good comparission to Lennie and an animal. I also agree about the old man. He does know everything about everyone on the ranch, he is like a crow.
Kelsey Marinelli
4/24/2012 01:49:04 am
I agree with you because Lennie is sneaky like a mouse. And if he wanted to he could get away with murder. The older man is like a crow because he tries to watch over Lennie. Also because he knows everything about everybody at the ranch.
Kendall Mitchell
4/27/2012 12:56:46 am
I agree with Brooke lennie is quiet and keeps to himself. He is sneaky and a mouse is sneaky. And the older man is like a crow. He always knows what's going on about everyone and everything.

I would compare lennie to an oxen, because oxen are very strong, and i would compare curley to a lion, not because of their strength, but because lions are short tempered like him.
Cody M.
4/23/2012 09:31:47 pm
I think I see George as a watchdog. He is constantly watching out for lennie and protecting him. Lennie on the other hand is more like a gorilla. He is strong and can be fierce but is actually more timid than violent.
Jill taylor
4/23/2012 11:10:17 pm
I agree with Cody about the watch dog.George dose remind me as a watch dog. George is constantly there watching lennie

I agree with you mark. The reason is because of George was your best example you used. Dolphins are very smart and have an IQ of an 8 year old which is good for an animal. George is kinda the parent of an unstable family of two and it weighs down on him sometimes. Yet, he keeps his head up and battles through it. Good job CORKY.
Kali Lakes
4/23/2012 09:33:26 pm
George makes me think of the lion, from the Wizard of Oz. Where george is always trying to be the ruler over Lennie and wanting to be the "big" guy. But he is also on the run from people in Weeds, so he makes me think he is afraid of them. So I see him as the cowardly lion.
Buddy Harrison
4/23/2012 09:34:32 pm
Lennie is described as a horse the way he drinks the water. And he wa also describes as a bear because of his size and strengh
Ben Powell
4/23/2012 09:36:05 pm
I chose stable buck I say that he is like a horse. Because it says buck in his name so I thought that a horse wold be good for him. The. I chose cruelly as a snake. Because he is slick and curlly as one that is why.
Blake Davis
4/23/2012 10:56:18 pm
I agree with you Ben. curely would be like a snake. The stable buck is also like horse. I like the examples you used. Itching, they are very good examples.
Allison Chasteen
4/23/2012 09:36:26 pm
In Of Mice And Men, to me Lennie is like a horse and George is like a daddy bear. He's like one of those because he drinks a lot of water in Chapter 1. George is like a daddy bear because he looks over and takes care of lennie as they travel to jobs.
Amanda Lewis
4/23/2012 09:37:26 pm
George is like a mother lion. He always protects and looks after Lenny, but they can play and have fun together too. Lennie is always curious about everything but George always has to keep him in line and watch what he does and says. Lennie is like a child.
Cody C.
4/23/2012 09:38:40 pm
George is like an owl. He sees and hears everything that is going on. Lennie is like a mule. They are strong and they are hard headed.
Bradley Broughton
4/24/2012 01:53:56 am
I agree with Cody. Your comparisons make sense. George is intelligent and all knowing. Lennie is stubborn like a mule.
Buddy Harrison
4/23/2012 09:40:52 pm
Ok, I didn't understand the question, but I guess in my eyes George is like a protective mom bear. He gets upset and lets lennie know it, but is there to pick him up when he needs it. Lennie is like an innocent panda. He is big, strong, and doesn't really know it. But he needs protection from somebody or else something bad would happen to him
Jordan Murphy.
4/25/2012 10:58:28 pm
I really like your comparison. I can see now Lennie is like a panda, he is unsure of what to do although he's strong and big. Lennie knows that George gets upset, espically when he talks.
Michael Pingleton
4/23/2012 09:41:21 pm
I think Lennie is like a bull with how strong he is and how he just kinda does his own thing until you make him work and once you do he works very well and can do the job of 3 men. I would compare lennie to a territorial dog with the way he watches over things that belong to him and lennie and the way he watches lennie and what he does.
Blake Davis
4/23/2012 10:54:19 pm
lennie was described as horse because of the way he drinks water. George would fit the description of bear because a bear protects their little bears. George protected lennie and watched over him. This is how they both are like each animal.
Jordan Murphy.
4/23/2012 10:55:56 pm
In the book, Mice and Men, I would compare George to a momma bird and lennie to a baby bird. The reason I think this is, is because Lennie has to have help with everything he does. Thats why George is around, to take care of lennie. With a baby bird, they'll eventually grow up and be able to be on there own, unlike Lennie.
Kelsey Rogers
4/24/2012 01:43:00 am
I agree with Jordan. George resembles a momma bird perfectly, he is always taking care of lennie and keeps him safe. I also agree that lennie is like a baby bird.
Caleb Goss
4/23/2012 10:56:02 pm
I believe George is like a lion with how he's the leader. No one sees the cubs or the rest of the family he is doing everything on his own for them. Hunting, jobs, and living. How a lion does the same for his family. I believe lennie is most like a tortoise because mentally he is slow. While physically he can drift on and do his own thing while hiding his little shell because of how quiet he is.
Tyler rose
4/23/2012 10:57:41 pm
Steinbeck choose a horse for lennie by the way he was drinking from the creek he stuck his entire head under the water and slurped like a horse and he choose a bear because lennie is a big guy and he wasn't very smart
Zack Tate
4/23/2012 10:57:50 pm
I think that lennie is like a panda bear because he strong. But he also is soft cause he doesn't like people picking on him and he let's George know. Lennie also does what you tell him to do.
Cody Richmond
4/23/2012 10:59:44 pm
Lennie- Is like a Gorilla because he is really strong, but doesn't know his own strength.
Jamie Hall
4/23/2012 11:17:56 pm
I agree with Cody. George can be compared to a shark. I didnt even think about that comparison. Also, comparing Lennie to a gorilla was a good comparison to.
Mark Agee
4/25/2012 10:09:05 pm
Good job Cody. I like those comparisons! George is like a shark. Lennie like a gorilla too!
Scott lamb
4/23/2012 10:59:49 pm
I think that lennie is like a moose. They are really big, and not real mean unless they feel threatened. Then they'll do whatever they can to protect themselves. I think George is like a snake. Relatively calm, but always quick on the strike when people talk bad about him or lennie.
Amanda Baker
4/25/2012 11:07:40 am
I really like your comparison, I can defiantly picture Lennie being a moose, especially since he is so harmless. Your comparison for George was really interesting, he really does act like a snake. He really doesn't trust anyone, and he has his guard up all the time.I really can't see him as a calm person though, he seems to be really stressed out and , in a way , worried about things. You are right when you say he is quick to defend himself and Lennie though, he can snap at any point in time.
Heather Lainhart
4/23/2012 11:00:47 pm
I chose George and Lennie. George is like a hawk, because he always sees what is going on, and he protects Lennie . Lennie is like a eagle. He's strong and can be protective , but he can also be scared at times.
Tyler hagan
4/23/2012 11:02:27 pm
I see lennie as a dog. The reason why I see lennie as a dog is because most dogs are playful, but although sometimes they get alittle rough and bite. Dogs don't know if they hurt or not until they actually see that youre hurt. In the first chapter , lennie is petting mice and accedently squashes them. He didnt know his strength . That's why I picked a dog
Nikki Crowe
4/23/2012 11:02:43 pm
I choose The old man he is like an owl. He is very wise and knows everything around the ranch. I would say that lennie is like marmaduke the great Dane. He is accidentally hurts things because he doesnt know how big he is. He doesn't really fit in because he is such a large man.
Cody Richmond
4/23/2012 11:03:02 pm
I like marks example of indirect characterization. Because both of those represent the characters good. George is smart like dolphins. Lennie is like an oxen because he is very strong!
Jamie Hall
4/23/2012 11:03:13 pm
The characters I chose were Slim and Lennie. I think Slim is like a lion. He's vicious, because he killed those puppies. I think Lennie is like a duckling. He's always following George around.
Marriah Walters
4/24/2012 01:37:42 am
I like your comparison. I also like ducks(:. I could see lennie as one also because he's a follower. I could also see slim as a lion. If only there was an animal called a jerkala or something cus he's a jerk
Katie Land
4/23/2012 11:03:13 pm
I see George as a momma bird. And Linnie as the baby bird. George is always having to watch out for Linnie like a momma bird does with its baby. Also George has to feed Linnie. If Linnie didn't have George then he probably couldn't take care of himself!
Ashlee adams
4/25/2012 11:09:04 pm
I agree with Katie. George is like a mommy bird because he looks after lennie like a baby. Lennie couldn't take care of himself if George wasn't there.
Jessica angel
4/23/2012 11:03:35 pm
-The bosses son (Curly) is like a coyote, he is real shrimpy and tiny and thinks he could take Lennie down. Lennie to him is like an elephant big and strong. And he believes that if he takes Lennie down he will be all high and mighty. And if Lennie takes him down everyone will go after Lennie. Like a pack of coyotes going after him.
Alesia Crawford
4/23/2012 11:03:52 pm
I feel like Lennie is a baby lion and George is the big lion. George is always getting Lennie out of trouble. He sticks up for him when he needs it. And he takes care of him because he unable to take care of himself.
Kiana Mahjub
4/25/2012 11:00:01 pm
I agree with Alesia. The way George protects lennie is much how a momma lion would take care of their baby.
Zack Tate
4/23/2012 11:04:55 pm
I agree with Scott lamb. I agree with Scott because he mad a good point on what Lennie is compared to. I really agree that Lenjie is like a mouse and he's soft until he feels threatened. Good job Scott.
Jessica Angel
4/23/2012 11:06:17 pm
- George to me is an alpha wolf. He takes care of Lennie and tells him when he is in the wrong. If somthing happens to Lennie, George would pounce of them like a savage wolf. Or tell Lennie to let them have it. Even though in the book George seems mean to Lennie. He is Lennies leader, his alpha, and his friend.

Lennie reminds me of a python because they can be slow or they can be fast and they aren't gentle.
Zach grant
4/24/2012 01:46:18 am
I agree with Jill because pythons aren't gentle and neither is lennie.
Amanda Baker

I think Curley is like a chihuahua. He is a small fellow that likes to pick a fight with bigger dogs, thinking that he is Mr.Mighty Mouse, one day he could really get hurt if he keeps that up.
Kd Webb
4/24/2012 01:34:00 am
I agree with you Amanda. I have a chihuahua, and she always tries to attack the pit bull next door, lol. She thinks she's a monster when in reality, she's a small, cute little animal. Kind of like how Curley thinks of himself; mighty, but in reality, he's not.
Amanda Baker
4/25/2012 10:46:00 am
When I wrote this, I had Curley's wife in mind about the fox, not Candy. I just wanted to clarify that.
Nancy Shepard
4/23/2012 11:17:51 pm
Lennie is like a Gorilla, hes very quiet and shy. He trys to be gentle but doesnt realize his strength. Gorillas are very shy and quiet although we mistake them to be very mean and angry. George is like a momma bear, he watches out for Lennie and trys to keep him in line, although he gets very aggervated he has to be strong and very straight forward in order for Lennie to understand him.
Gordon Witt
4/24/2012 01:27:04 am
George is like a mother cat.Because he make shore lennie is okay. keep him out of trouble.Like a mother should be.

I agree with Alesia. Because geogre baby lennie. Lennie acts like george like his mother. Mothers always here for u went no one else is

George: like a snake, their calm and fine until you irritate them. Then they can become dangerous
Marriah Walters
4/24/2012 01:35:51 am
I guess I would compare the swamper to his old dog, Cus they are both old haha! I would also compare Curley to a rat or mouse. just because there some annoying animals. Curley to me, just seems annoying.
Joe Thomas

I think lennie is like A giraffe, tall and strong.
Candace

i agree with Cody because George is like an owl. because he hears everything... & i also agree that lennie is like a mule, because he's very strong. & hard headed. i love you , when your nice to me (:

4/24/2012 01:40:18 am
I see Lennie as a little gerbil. Maybe not in size, but in personality. He's so quiet, yet so mischievous. Wanting to explore his surroundings, and play around a lot. I see George as a momma bear, watching after the weak and always making sure their okay. Like he watches after Lennie.
Kelsey Rogers
4/24/2012 01:40:38 am
I think that George resembles a mother duck because he is always trying to teach Lennie how to do things and teach him right from wrong. A mother duck does the same thing, tries to teach the babies how to do things on their own.
josh mcnemar
4/26/2012 10:40:28 am
i agree with this. George is kind of an antagonist though as he is always pushing lennie around. It is for his own good though. i also agree that lennie is like a big dog. he just wants to play right now and doesn't worry about anything,
Cory hatfield
4/24/2012 01:41:31 am
I think lennie is like a sloth because he is slow.

George is like a mother alligator. He is always watching out and protecting lennie. Mother alligators keep a close watch on their babies.
Shelby Dixon
4/24/2012 01:42:01 am
I choose lennie and George. George is like a momma cat. He takes care of lennie and shows him what to do. Lennie is like a dog. He can sometimes be nice and other times a little rough.
CANDACE
4/24/2012 01:45:31 am
lennie is like a pitbull beacuse hes very strong, and he doesnt take a lot of crap. hes really hard headed, and pitbulls have a hard head. george is like a hawk beacsue they can hear & see everything, just like george can
Kelsey Marinelli
4/24/2012 01:45:44 am
I would compare Lennie to my boxer Tyson. He doesn't know his own strength and can be very timid. He isn't mean to people or animals but if he knows that something is wrong then he can be very mean. He is also very protective. And the other character I am going to use is the lady that Lennie scared by grabbing her dress. I think I would compare her to my other puppy Lilly. I just got her and she was very scared at first. She barkes a lot when something is going on and she doesn't know exactly what it is. I would compare her to the lady because the lady freaked out when Lennie grabbed her dress and that is like my puppy because she freaks out when someone picks her up.
Bradley Broughton
4/24/2012 01:47:59 am
Lennie is like a rhino because he is big and powerful, but he is also harmless. Also, Lennie never tries to harm the mice that he gets.

George is like a hawk the way he watches lennie.
Kelsee Burchfield
4/26/2012 04:16:25 am
I agree with you as George always watches Lennie and is very protective of him. He doesn't like anyone picking on Lennie. Curley is like a snake as he always wants to fight somebody. He and a snake are very similar.
Hanna
4/24/2012 10:11:04 pm
I would compare lennie to a swan, quiet but strong when you wouldn't expect it, and George like a mom bear protecting its cub (lennie) and lennie would be a mess without him and probably in more trouble than he knows.
Blake Dickerson
4/25/2012 01:46:04 am
Lennie. Is like a donkey he don't know what too do or remember stuff and he is kinda stupid george is like a tiger always aggressive. Towards people always mean.
Austin Andrew
4/25/2012 04:54:39 am
For Lennie i choose a gorrila. Both are very strong and very big. I would also compare him to a cat. I think this because cats dont always think correcly and do some dumb stuff.
Austin Andrew
4/25/2012 04:57:48 am
My other character is the old man. I think he is more like a parrot. Beacause both like to listen and repeat what is heard. I agree with Joe. Both of his examples are very good comparisons.

The way I see gorge is like a bear ....caring and kind....to those that they know.but hurt them or someone they care for and your in trouble.and lennie is his cub dangerously naieve .

George and lennie both make me think of koala bears. They both just want to have a relaxed life and be able to lay around all day. Just like koala bears do, except they actually get to do it.
Ashlee adams
4/25/2012 11:07:34 pm
I think George is like a panda bear. Keeping watch over its cubs. Since lennie is like a brother to him. I think lennie is like a whale. Whale are huge and scary looking but they are sweet and help people. George can't leave lennie, just like a panda, he tried but he couldn't.
Kelsie Barrett
4/25/2012 11:17:07 pm
I think that George is like a father lion. Because he looks out for lennie. And he will protect him and care for him. Now lennie would be like the baby lion. Because he makes mistakes and forgets everything. But he is still strong.
Blake linville
4/26/2012 09:46:37 pm
I agree with kelsie. I also think George is like a father lion. I also agree that George is like a cub. Lennie is like the cub because if no one took care of him he would be lost and in trouble.
Kelsee Burchfiled
4/26/2012 04:13:43 am
Lennie is like a puppy because he is always very hyper. Like puppies, he always has to be told what to do. Slim is like a lion because he is very strong. Also, he is very admireed by many people at the ranch and a lion is admired.
josh mcnemar
4/26/2012 10:16:35 am
I think slim is like a lion because he is the king of the ranch. He looks after people and makes sure things run smoothly. Curly is like a mean pupppy. He tries to start something with everyone.
Blake linville
4/26/2012 09:41:36 pm
I see George as a dog. Because of the way he takes care lennie. I see lennie as a pup. Because he has to have someone take care of them all the time.
Jason Riley
4/26/2012 09:43:03 pm
Lenie is like a bear. He can carry out any work given to him. He is also very strong just like a bear is. George is like a bird. He is always on the lookout for trouble. He also looks after lennie like a bird would her eggs.
Kendall Mitchell
4/27/2012 12:51:32 am
George is like a elephant because he's big and strong. But at times he gets scared. Lennie is like a bird because he doesn't bother anybody. He keeps to himself. Comments are closed.
