I think physical would worse and harder to deal with bc if your mentally disabled , you dont know that, that isn't "normal". You don't look t it like that. If your physically disabled it's harder to do things . If I was really truly disabled I'm not sure on how I would cope with it , with my knees now I can't do a lot, and it gets really frustrating.
Jason Riley

I agree with Megan . I would hate not bein able to go run and do things. Plus if your mentally disabled then you don't know your not normal and stuff. I would hate bein either one but I think the physical is the worst.

I agree with Megan. I would hate not getting any exercise. I would go crazy. I always have to walk or jogg a little bit .

I think that having a mental disability would be he hardest to live with because you dont know what your doing. You dont think the same way other people do.
Nikki Crowe
4/23/2012 11:12:44 pm
I agree with Yadira. I would rather have a physical disability so that way people wouldn't be able to make fun of me because I would know what their doing. I also would want to talk with other people. And with a mental disability then you probably wouldn't be able to that.

I think mental disabilities would be harder to live with. You wouldn't be able to do as much as everyone else, and some things would be harder to understand. I guess the only way I could really cope with this is by always looking on the bright side.

I think being mentally handicap would be worse because you couldn't do anything for yourself, but then again if you are physically disabled it would be hard also. But when you are mentally disabled you see the world differently and don't always know whats going on. I h ave no clue how I would cope with a mental disability but physically I would just try to do the most I could and go to a physical therapist then hope for the best. Both things would be hard to cope with.

Personally I think the blind would be the hardest thing to deal with. I want to see the world, and experience it with my eyes. I wouldn't cope with this very well because I would have no idea what I'm doubg

Physical disabilities would be hard to work with because the person would need help walking, and need to rest periodically. A mental disability would also be hard to work with because this person may not be able to understand specific things and my not be able to help with many things.
Amanda Lewis

I believe having a mental or physical disability would both be terrible, but a physical disability would be more taxing on someone because either they can't walk, see, hear, or anything else everybody can do. With a mental disability, sometimes they don't know that they're different than everyone else, so they see nothing wrong (not that there's anything wrong with them in the first place). But either way, they

I agree with you amanda because it would be harder to get around if you have that. Because it is hard to not be able to walk I would go crasy. It would be bad not to be able to do some thing. And it is wired that they can do. An other that cant.

4/23/2012 09:36:21 pm
I think mental disabilities would be worse. Not knowing what was normal for others would be nearly immpossible to cope with for me. If I had a disability I would feel like I'm always a step behind other people.but I would try to stay positive and live with it as best I could.
Katie Land
4/23/2012 10:56:10 pm
Even though I agree with the 'physical disability' being worse, I still agree with Cody's comment. Have mental disabilities would be pretty hard. Not knowing most things and it could keep most being from thinking their just as equal as everyone else. Most people with mental disabilities are probably always negative about themselves.
Rachel Montgomery.
4/23/2012 10:59:33 pm
I agree with cody, it would be hard not knowing what was "normal" for other people. I would feel the same way, as I was a step behind every one else. With a physical disability you could learn to cope.
Jason Riley
4/23/2012 09:36:37 pm
I think physical would be the most difficult. I think that because you couldn't control your physical movements and couldn't do anything like the other people. You wouldn't get to play sports and stuff. I would hate not being able to do anything.

I believe that having a mental disability would be the hardest, because you can't learn to cope with something like that, as to where if you were missing a limb you would eventually get used to it and find different ways to cope with it. if you had mental disability it would be hard to be able to work around it, because you wouldn't be able to find different ways of doing things.

I think a physical disability would be most hard over anything else. If you have trouble moving, you would have to have someone help you with every move you make. It could make you start to feel like an annoyance to someone. And if your mind is fully there some thing could make you feel embarrassed.
Jodeci

I think that physical disabliltys are worse in some cases. Because some things you cant help when you have physical disabliltys. I know that where some of my family have physical disibilitys it is hard for them to do. And they are have harder times getting around then others do.
Austin Andrew

One mental disability that would be tough is altimers. Especially with someone that has a specific role/job. A physical disability would be if you were paralyzed. This would keep people from doing their jobs around the house.

I agree with you Austin, Alzheimer's would be a rough mental disability.. Not being able to remember your children's names and what not. Not only would it hurt you, but it would also hurt the family , knowing that they will never have the same you again.
Amanda Lewis
4/25/2012 10:06:28 pm
I agree too, Austin. Alzheimer's would probably be the worst thing to try and cope with. Although most of the time you don't remember your family or anything about your life, when you do snap back and remember, it would be devastating.
Liz Carroll

I have a papaw that has Altztimers, it is very hard to deal with. I use to go fishing wit him all the time, and go stay with him. Now I can't because he goes through episodes where he doesn't know who people are. I still visit him sometimes, but not as much as I use to. It's a very hard disability for him, and the family to face.

I think that physical would be worse. Because I you have mental disabilities you can cope with it better. Than you could if it was physical. But if you had to cope with both you could excersise for physical and work your brain for mental.
Tyler rose
4/23/2012 10:54:19 pm
I think physical would be the worst because you wouldnt be able to do very much if you was physically impaired. It would be very difficult to drive or walk or think right if you was different than every one else
Tyler hagan
4/23/2012 10:55:50 pm
In my opinion I believe that having a mental disability would be the hardest thing. It would be hard becaus you wouldn't be able to control what your mind does or thinks. Like illucination for example, you cant control what you see, and if you see something horrifying then you would probably freak out and not know what's real or not.
DonnyWyatt

I believe that having mental disabilities would be harder to cope with than physical disabilities. I think this because if you are physically disabled, you can pretty much behave and function like a normal human being, but if you are mentally disabled, you cannot fully behave "normally". I think I would cope with being mentally disabled by trying my best to be able to behave and seem "normal" to society's standards of normality. I would try to do mental exercises to help with mentafocal acuity and focus. Of I was physically disabled, I would do the same but to a less degree, but with physical exercises instead of mental ones.
Caleb Goss
4/23/2012 11:04:43 pm
I feel like though that mentally they don't know any better, and there world is the way the rest of people see it to. So mentally would be easier too me. While physically people feel obligated to prove themselves. I've learned this through experience within our family because there are people with disabilities. I mean it's just my opinion everyone has them.
Jamie Hall
4/23/2012 11:13:14 pm
I agree with Caitlin. Mental disability would be a lot harder than having a physical disability. Not having control of your mind is a hard thing to deal with, but at least you can have that if your physically disabled. You just can't function your physical body right.
Rachel Montgomery.
4/23/2012 10:56:36 pm
I think being physically disabled would be harder because when someone is born with being mentally disabled they do not know that they are disabled. So they would eventually learn how to handle it. If you where physically disabled it would have an effect on you because you would not be able to do some of the things that other people would be able to do.
Samantha Sonnemann
4/24/2012 01:30:35 am
I agree with you, to an extent. People with mental disabilities must know that they're different. That's not bad, but they must see that they can't do things like everyone else. Maybe they do it, but in a different way. People with a physical disability probably wouldn't be able to do things like everyone else, so I agree with you there.
Blake Davis
4/23/2012 10:58:06 pm
I think physical would be harder. Mental disability would be hard also but not as hard as physical. You can still get around pretty good with mental disabilities. Physical disabilities makes it harder to get around.
Jordan Murphy.
4/23/2012 10:59:26 pm
I think it would be difficult for both the disabilities. But if I had to choose one, I would chose to be physically disable. You may not be able to move around like you want too, but people can help you with that and make it easier for you to get around. However, if you were mentally disable, you cant do anything on your own, you always have to have someone around to help you with e erythin you do, no matter what.
Katie Land
4/23/2012 11:00:31 pm
I think having physical disabilities would be harder from my point of view. I like to be active and do things, so not being able to exercise would be really difficult for me. Although you can still think good with mental disabilities and have good grades possibly, I think physical disabilities has more down sides. You wouldn't be able to do activities with your friends or anything.
Zack Tate
4/23/2012 11:02:20 pm
I believe that a mental disability would be harder to live with. I think this because with a mental disability you really don't know what's going on. Then when you do something wrong that person thinks its right. I wouldn't know how to cope with this cause I have family and friends with mental disabilities and to see what they go through is really hard so I don't know what I would do.
Caleb Goss
4/23/2012 11:02:32 pm
I believe physical would be the toughest to cope with. You're mentally aware and capable, but your physically not. That's very tough and you would struggle because you couldn't handle it physically. The worst part is you want to be independent and show people you can do stuff just like them in a different way, so when people offer to help you feel embarrassed. If it were mentally you wouldn't know any better and be mentally like the rest of people are.
Nancy Shepard
4/23/2012 11:04:03 pm
I think that mental and physical disabilities both are very hard and challenging. But i think that mental disabilities would be the hardest. You dont understand anything, and its hard to get other people to understand whats wrong. Just like lennie he cant remember and doesnt know his own strength and that doesnt just affect him but the people around him. Physical can maybe be cured and helped a little bit. But mental will always be a challenge without a cure mostly.

Cody Richmond
4/23/2012 11:07:14 pm
I think mental disabilities would be the worst to have out of the two. Because if you have mental problems you can't think straight, you can't do right things. If you wandered off by yourself you could get lost if you couldn't remember the way back. It could also be a hazard to your health because you could be doing dangerous things and not know it.
Joe Thomas
4/24/2012 01:40:59 am
I disagree with Cody, if you have a mental problem, you wouldn't know you had one. If you're handicapped, you can't play no sports unless it involves a wheelchair.

Shelby Dixon

I agree with summer because these disabilities would not only effect the person that has them but also the people around them. Helping these people would be hard but you would have to try. If I had any of these disabilities it would be hard to let someone in and help me.
Jamie Hall

I personally think Mental disability would be the worst. I just couldn't imagine not being able to use my mind properly, and not fully understanding a situation. I honestly don't know how I would cope with it. But I guess I could just try looking on the bright side.

This is a rally personal subject for me. My little was born with mental disabilities so I grew up knowing how ward it was, is, and always will be for people that were born with problems like him. Though his physical disabilities arent as bad as his mental ones, I've still been exposed to enough of it to know how hard that it is to grow up with those disabilities as well. In my opinion though, mental disability is a lot harder to grow with than physical though. With mental disability it is your brain that stops you from living up to your fullest and greatest potential. If you feel like you can't even control your brain, you feel like you can't control anything. But there is no way to 'cope' with it on your own, or even a way to figure how you would 'cope' with it. You need loving and caring people who will go to the earths end for you. People who will take each step with you everyday, and figure out how to make even the little things easier.
Kelsey Marinelli
4/24/2012 01:34:38 am
I agree with you completely Kiana. And I understand how you feel because my step brother has physical and mental disabilities. If you have a mental disability then you can have it in your mind that you can be just like anybody else out there and do what ever you set your mind to. And if you don't have loving family and friends there to help you the whole way through then you may never understand that. Family and friends are very important.
Nikki Crowe
4/23/2012 11:10:05 pm
I think both would be very hard but i would say that having a mental disability would definitely be the hardest. If you have a mental disability then you don't really know what your doing. I wouldn't know how to cope with it I would just hope I would be able to have someone there with me to help take of me.You also really wouldn't know anything. It depends on how bad of a mental condition you would have. Any of the would be bad!
Bradley Broughton
4/24/2012 01:42:55 am
I agree and dissagree. Having a mental disability would be pretty bad. But having a physical disability would be worse because you could see how different you are to the people around you. Also, if you are mentally disabled you wouldn't know it.
Summer Johnson

I think having a mental disability would be a lot harder to deal with. It would be hard to have a physical disability, it would be difficult to do a lot of the things that I needed done. Although at least I would know my limits, and what I could and could not do. Having a mental disability
Samantha Sonnemann
4/24/2012 01:27:31 am
I think either disability would be hard. I think they're both hard to live with. If I had a mental disability I would just take it day by day and do as much as I could, with help when I need it. With a physical disability I would do the same, I would do everything I could on my own and then ask for help when I need it.
Shelby Dixon
4/24/2012 01:27:59 am
I think they both are about the same because with each one you lose something. If you have a physical disability then you lose the chance of doing things that other people do. If you have a mental disability then you lose the the chance of knowing what other people do. Coping with these disabilities would be hard.
Donny Wyatt
4/24/2012 01:28:06 am
I think the hardest to recove from is mental. Like with baseball with me I get upset cuz I do something I shouldn't have and then I go unfocused and it takes me out of the whole game. And once u start thinking about defet u are going to get beat every body should think positive and not worry about the negatives.

I think physically handicapped would be the worse. If you were handicapped from the waist down, you can never walk again. That would be hard for some of the people who do sports, you can't do that type of sport. Sometimes it can be worse than having your legs crippled, you can be paralyzed from the neck down.
Kelsey Marinelli
4/24/2012 01:30:12 am
In my opinion I think that physical disabilities would be harder than mental disabilities. I think this because when you have a mental disability you don't know that you have it but when you have a physical disability you are fully aware of it. I also think that it would be harder to have physically because you might not be mentally or physically able to do the things that other children or teenagers can do. I would cope with my disability by trying to do everything that other kids can do. I would play sports and I would try to be just like everybody else. And I would understand that I'm not the only one with a disability, that there are many other people out there like me.
Marriah Walters
4/24/2012 01:49:48 am
I agree. If you have a mental disability you may not be fully aware. But like I said if you were blind there is no way you would miss that. Or deaf or missing a limb. You know that your missing one of your senses, but you may not know if your mentally disabled.
Gordon Witt
4/24/2012 01:32:40 am
I say physical is the hardness. Because ever one things about ever thing. Some people think about killing there self and for long they do. There no one there to talk to them about it.
Bradley Broughton
4/24/2012 01:39:14 am
I think that having a physical disability would be worse. If you are mentally disabled you probably wouldn't know it and if you are physically disabled you could see everyone else and know that you aren't like them. Physical disabilities also make it difficult to do simple things that people who aren't disabled could easily do. Also something like not being able to walk would limit you to handicapped things such as ramps instead of stairs.
Kd Webb
4/24/2012 01:42:09 am
I think a physical disibility would be the hardest to live with. Peope are on here saying mental disability, but when youre mental, true you don't know what's 'normal' but, you probably wouldn't care. A physical disability would be the worst in my opinion because you would have all these great ideas in your head, and you want to bring them to life, but you can't because of your disability.
Jodeci
4/24/2012 01:44:05 am
I think having a physical disability would be most difficult for me to live with. Having a physical disability limits you from being able to live a normal life and do the things that other people can do. When you have a physical disability you realize that you are different because your brain functions perfectly fine. When you have a mental disability you think and act like a child. You don't understand that the way you are isn't normal which would probably make it a lot less difficult to live that way. I honestly don't know how I would cope with either disabilities.
Marriah Walters
4/24/2012 01:45:59 am
I would find it hard to a have physical disability rather than a mental one. I say this because for an example I could be deaf or blind. If someone had a mental disability they may could still hear and see the world. If I had a physical disability I think I could cope with it by finding different ways to hear people like writing to them. If I was blind I would see the world I would hope it was, even if I couldn't physically 'see'.
Zach grant
4/24/2012 01:48:41 am
I think a mental disability would be worse. My reason for this is that with a mental disorder it messes with your head and it could make you not able to help yourself anyways. If you had a physical disorder you would Atleast be able to communicate with others and get what you need done.
Cory hatfield
4/24/2012 01:49:32 am
My brother is color blind with is a physical disabilited so I would tell him that a stop light is red because for him it is brown. If someone in my family was mental disabilited help then around the house and help with what they need
Kelsey Rogers
4/24/2012 01:49:59 am
In my opinion, mental and physical disabilities are both difficult. But I I think that having a mental disabilty would be harder, most of the time people don't know when they are doing something wrong. They also may have a harder time learning how to do things. People with me talk disabilities
Leslie

Mental disability I think would be worse because you couldn't comprehend or interact with people
Blake Dickerson

I think physical disabilitys would be worse because if you were paralyzed you couldn't move use the bathroom walk or anything else that a normal person does.

I think that mental disability would be more difficult .because it is easier with physical because you can kinda find a way to get through it .but with mental it's like you don't know how your different but you know you are.
Josh mcnemar
4/25/2012 01:45:31 am
I think a mental disability would be worse. If you have a physical disability it affects one limb. If you have a mental disability it affects your whole body. You can easily cope with a physical disability but it not many can cope with a serious mental disability.

I think physical would be hard to deal with because you would have to learn how to write whith the other hand, learn how to cook with out that hand, and to walk around more. That would be very hard for me if I had that problem. I would feel very bad and lazy.
Dylan O'Donnell
4/25/2012 01:49:08 am
I think physical disabilities would be far more worse than mental because if it's mental you don't know you have a disability and you would be fine with it and who you are, but a physical disability would be terrible, you would have to live with not being able to do certain things and go certain places, it would be far worse than mental.
Blake linville
4/26/2012 09:57:52 pm
I like Dylan's post. I agree that it would be terrible to have a physical disability. And also You couldn't go places and do certain things with a mental disability either. But at least you could think straight with a physical disability.
Michael Pingleton
4/25/2012 10:00:49 pm
I think that it would be worse to have a physical disability because of the fact that most people with mental disabilitys don't really know about there illness and physically disabled people know that there something wrong with them
Kelsie Barrett
4/25/2012 11:02:35 pm
I think it would be hard to have mental and physical disability. Mostly because no one would really be able to understand. Like if you was missing and arm or leg. No one could understand how hard things could be for you. Or if you had a mental illness. No one could understand how harbor might be for you to just stay focused on somthing
Jill taylor
4/25/2012 11:05:53 pm
I think the hardest would physicall because if your not able to do things like others first you will feel depress because cant do somthing others can and if you are mentally able to understand that you cant do that something its going to he hard for you to cope.
Kelsie Barrett
4/25/2012 11:06:09 pm
I agree with Dylan. Most people with mental illness don't think there is anything wrong with them. But if you was born normal. it would be hard to go from that to not being able to do much.
Jill taylor
4/25/2012 11:08:40 pm
The rest of my respons is that the way i would cope is to give it my all. And understand that yes im physically disable but that dont mean i cant try to give it my all. I think if i do give it my all then thats that i atleast tried and that all anyone can ask for.
Kelsee Burchfield

I think mental disabilities would be worse to deal with because your brain doesn't work with you body. The brain can't make a task for the body that you want to do. It's harder for you to work and it can even mess up physical abilities too. Mental disabilites are the worse because you can't enjoy your life as well.

I think being blind would be hard. You can't see anything. I wanna expierence this beautiful earth, and people around me. Be able to see where I'm going. Being blind has to be so hard to deal with. I'd go crazy not being able to see everything around me.

I think that the physical disability would be more difficult, because with mental ones, you don't really know that your disabled. But a physical one, you are aware of your disability. I would cope with a physical disability by asking for help from friends and family. I would also try to look on the brighter things in life, so I wouldn't be sad.

I think it is hard either way to have or to know someone that has mental or physical disabilities. We have a family friend that has a mental disability and it is hard but you just have to understand that they don't understand sometimes. They can understand things sometimes, and you have to enforce it. I think that mental disabilities would be harder than physical personally because you can still understand when you have a physical disability but when you have a mental disability you can't.
